Chinese Golden Week
China's Golden Week celebrated 1st through to the 7th of October commemorates the founding of People's Republic of China, where nationwide celebrations are held.
Golden Week is one of the longest public holiday periods in the Chinese Calendar and therefore it is expected that this will have a significant impact on supply chains from suppliers, manufacturer's through to agents and shipping lines.
As anticipated, the lead up to this holiday period will see a spike in volumes to avoid the week (or more) delay that can be caused by the holiday period. Following this, as seen in previous years, throughout the Golden Week period carriers manage the reduced volumes by cancelling sailings to even out the booking to capacity ratio.
During this period, we request that where possible a forecast of upcoming shipments is provided in order for our team to plan bookings for your desired routings.
We encourage this same dialogue with your suppliers in order for cargo to be ready as soon as possible for departure before Golden Week begins.
